EDUCATIONAL TOURS

Unhurried conducts Heritage and Cultural themed experiences for schools and universities customised to your institution's requirements. We all know about Kempegowda who 'founded' Bengaluru. What did he look like? How heavy was Tipu Sultan's sword? Or did he have more than one? History is exciting, thought provoking and fun when it is experienced in the right way! Experience history through our tours and programmes and we guarantee you that it not just dates and battles.

Our tours and walks can also be customized to your school's curriculum and schedules. This could range from a
video presentation or quizzes in your school to a walk or a tour through the city, experiencing an outdoor trip to a heritage site.

Unhurried also offers
in-class presentations, workshops & interactive tours on history and heritage of South India. We have given below some themed tours that we have done in the past as an idea for your school's programmes.
Please write to poornima@unhurried.in or reachus@unhurried.in for more details.

TIPU SULTAN TRAIL

Historians and common people alike have a love-hate relationship with Tipu Sultan.

In the Tipu Sultan trail w
e trace our journey of Tipu from the far edge of Bangalore city, at a medieval fort of Devanahalli. then to his Summer Palace in Bangalore and finally end it
at his lair, his capital Srirangapatna, a sleepy laidback city today. While the physical remains of Tipu Sultan's life are dilapidated, the tales remain, as lively as it can ever be.

THE SILK ROUTE TALES

This culture tour aims to take the visitors on a silk trail - from the humble silkworms, & their cocoons to the markets & factories - in an effort to show the process and the diverse people behind the silk industry of South India.

It's a day tour through the areas of Ramanagara and Channapatna, two towns near Bangalore famous for their cottage industries.

KEMPEGOWDA TRAIL

In the Kempegowda trail, we explore the life and times of Kempegowda's family, their earlier settlements, origins, the bits and pieces of Bengaluru and even earlier times of the Gowdas.

From the early capital of Yelahanka, the trail takes one through some of the watch towers, then the old city of Bengaluru and  winds its way through a city museum that showcases city of those times, the lifestyles & achievements of the family in medieval India.

Some schools we have served in the past - Prakriya Green Wisdom School, The Valley School-Kankapura, Canadian International School, Neev Academy and Creative School-Bangalore. We have also conducted customized tours for Universities  such as Trinity School New York, University of East Anglia, Massey University, Auckland, University of Houston, Texas and University of Singapore.

Testimonials

"Thank you, the teachers and kids enjoyed the walk". - Parvathy, Valley School on Customised Heritage Trail

"We have had the pleasure of working with Poornima from Unhurried on a number of occasions now as part of
a series of international study tours from New Zealand to India. She was knowledgeable and captivating as she
carried us along a journey through the markets and streets of old Bengaluru. The team at Unhurried took great
lengths to customise the walking tours to our needs – the result was a true cultural immersion and educational

experience for the students. I highly recommend them "– Nitha Palashappa, Massey University, Auckland

"I arranged the Malleshwaram tour for a group of 14 of us with Poornima, who we found out is a local from the district, making her particularly knowledgeable. I travel quite frequently for both work and leisure and often book local tours to learn about culture, food and architecture. I have to say that this was one of the best tours I've been on. I was impressed with the range and depth of her knowledge related to history, architecture, planning, religion, education--even geology! She was able to answer questions thoughtfully without being scripted. She was also quite personable and took the time to ask everyone to introduce themselves--she used that info to add topics to her talk. I highly recommend this tour. " - Jessica,Singapore University architecture students
