Book now
The story of Bengaluru: a historic journey through the narrow lanes of the old city

The pete (pronounced pay-tay) is perhaps the oldest part of modern Bengaluru. This trail retells the story of Bengaluru from its founding to modern times.

With small lanes that are named after the trade or trading communities such as akkipete (rice street), balepete (bangle street) or chikkapete (small street), the criss-cross of narrow lanes, the little shops of local produce, century-old temples tucked away behind posters of Kannada films, the old city breathes a different breath and has a interesting story to it.

So if you want to know how Bengaluru came into existence, while eyeing the rarebooks shop or window shopping at the silk chops or peep into some inconspicuous yet century old temples or just taste some traditional South Indian food, come along on our pete walk. Oh yes, pete simply means 'city'.
