Why We Started ? (Excerpt from the Founder’s Journal)
My journey began in the fast-paced world of IT. But despite a fulfilling career, I felt a deeper calling—to explore and share the rich heritage that surrounded me. During my travels in Europe, I experienced the magic of heritage walks that brought history alive in immersive, thoughtful ways. I dreamt of bringing that same approach to South India, where such storytelling experiences were rare at the time.
Choosing Bangalore was instinctive. It’s where I was born and raised—and it’s a city with over a thousand years of history that most people barely know. I wanted to retell the stories of the land I love… and so, Unhurried was born.

Meet our Storytellers
Poornima Dasharathi
Poornima founded Unhurried with a simple belief: that India’s old neighborhoods and quiet towns are full of incredible secrets, if only we would slow down enough to listen. She spent the early part of her life navigating the structured world of IT as an engineer, before her absolute obsession with heritage won the battle, leading her to trade code for dusty primary archives, a Master’s in History, and authoring a book. Over the past 14 years, she has treated research like a great detective story, joyfully digging beneath centuries-old monuments to find the quirky human elements that textbook dates completely ignore. She believes history is best served as an effortless, time-traveling conversation—and that no historical mystery is too complex to be unraveled over a good cup of coffee.
Vidya Neelakantan
Vidya is a natural storyteller who believes that history isn't stuck in the past, but is alive and kicking in our everyday traditions. Partnering to build Unhurried, she brought along a degree in Civil Engineering, which gave her an accidental superpower: the ability to decode the jaw-dropping architectural brilliance and hidden symbolism written into ancient temple walls. Her deep-dive research is fueled by a lifelong love for Indian mythology, folklore, and the ragas of Carnatic music, turning ancient lore into beautifully captivating, relatable narratives. Warm, endlessly curious, and a total delight to walk with, Vidya has a gift for making heritage feel deeply personal, effortlessly bridging the gap between ancient worlds and modern travelers.
Sita Vasudevan
Sita is a versatile Management Professional having over two decades of corporate and social sector experience, with a natural interest in people and their stories. Raised on a staple diet of Indian mythology and history by her grandmother, her interest was nurtured through writings & podcasts by contemporary historians & temple architectural courses.
At Unhurried, she enjoys rediscovering the charm of our land and its million tales, with every walk.
She believes that life's challenges are best navigated with the power of filter coffee, the melody of Carnatic music and a generous dose of humour.
